The Marketing Director's Support Group was founded to provide a forum for marketing directors to discuss various aspects of their duties. Membership by invitation only. This is not a leads group. We meet once a month at predetermined venues. Thanks to Tammy Stone at the Capital Grille for hosting our February meeting. I encourage all of you to frequent her wonderful restaurant. I also want to give a huge thanks to Jim Choplick from Constellation Energy for educating us on how to best craft a corporate giving strategy. Thanks to the Baltimore Business Journal. John Dinkel and his staff talked to us about how to best create/pitch a story to the BBJ and how to maximize our advertising dollars in March. Thanks to Laura Pasternak and Aaron Piccirilli for leading the "Managing a Brand in Transition" discussion in May. They talked about the migration of a brand either through M &A, new products/services/division, joint venture, etc... The June meeting saw a few new faces. We talked about PR best practices. Robin Yasinow and Harry Bosk led an outstanding discussion on what PR encompasses. It was a lively discussion. Thanks to Denise at Tydings and Rosenberg. Blake Goldsmith talked about event planning best practices and Woodhall offered us a tasting of their tasty wines. La Tesca provided us with a nice catered spread. Nicky did a great job of surprising us with pizza. Tim Elliott from SPIN, and former SMPS president talked about best practices and the mechanics used for conducting market research. Our September meeting was at the B&O Railroad Museum. Please support them. Amy Getz was the gracious host. Atlantic Catering provided some wild desserts. We discussed intern hiring best practices. Our speakers were Julie LeSuer from MICA and Garry Bolan from Towson. They imparted practical ways to recruit, teach and manage the top interns from area colleges. Our October meeting featured Hap Cooper who framed the roles of marketing and business development into a strategic picture. Our November meeting was hosted by Lori Rogers and the Strata Group. We discussed how to measure marketing metrics and ROI. Our February meeting was held at Tydings and Rosenberg. Our speaker was none other than Marsha Redmon. Marsha gave a seminar dealing with best practices on presenting to the media. Our speaker was Nancy R. Mitchell, an established protocol and etiquette consultant and advisor with more than 25 years of experience in the field. Our gracious host was the Center Club. Our May meeting featured none other than Myra Norton. She discussed the mapping of peer networks. Martha from boheme cafe catered it.
